Police vs Kneeton Park Northallerton Police entertained Kneeton Park in this Division 1 fixture played at Newby Wiske. Prior to the kick off the Hambleton Ales Combination treasurer, Malcolm Hare presented the Hambleton Ales First Division Championship to Police captain Simon Caukwell. The game kicked off on a hot sunny morning in which play was end to end. The first real chance for the Police came after 9mins when Curt Tasker put Chris Walker away on the right and his fine cross from the by line was met by Simon Caukwell whose diving header went wide of the post. Kneeton hit back and Police keeper Danny Yates turned a Kneeton forwards shot for a corner. After 30mins Kneeton threatened and only a fine tackle by Walker prevented a goal. He then set up an attack down the right wing. After 40mins good interpassing between the Police players ended with Kneeton keeper Darren Poole saving well from a Ben Barr 15yd shot. Kneeton started the second half strongly and the Police defence was under pressure, however, Police man of the match Nathan Jackman was in superb form. After 55mins police broke down the right with Chris Maclean passing to Tasker who dribbled the ball before passing inside before Walker drove a right foot shot across the keeper only to be denied by the post, the ball rebounding clear. Police took the lead after 63 mins when the ball fell to Tasker 25yds whose shot evaded Poole in the Kneeton Park goal. Shortly after this, because of injury to one of their players Kneeton Park had a reshuffle and they changed their goal keeper with Darren Poole going up front. Police increased their lead after 72mins when Barr laid the ball off to Sam Vernalls whose low hard drive from 18yds evaded the new Kneeton keeper. Kneeton hit back and scored the goal of the game when Tony Miller scored with a low drive into the corner of the net from 20yds. They were unlucky not to equalise after 85mins when a forward hit the post from a tight angle about 8yds out. Danny Shoulder took the man of the match award for Kneeton with Nathan Jackman taking it for the Police.
