Ossy vs Dale

Grossman Grabs Glory

Kildale match reports are back, the absence is because Mutzvig has been to busy playing on the amusements in Scarborough. Although due to DLF needing more hits on the website and popular demand all the gossip and some fact from fortress dale is here. After a poor start to the season the wheels are slowly getting back on track for the Dalesmen and on Sunday it was a fourth win on the bounce.

Kildale had a squad of 17 available, although when the time came to set off for Ossy there was no sign of Lewy, he was finally located somewhere in Great Ayton and smelling like a brewery according to the Shirt who got him to the game on time.

When the game got underway it was obvious that it was not just Lewy who had a few too many cheeky yals the night before as Kildale started very slowly. Ossy took advantage of this and grasped control of the game, creating a number of chances as the dale struggled on a damp pitch. The pressure paid off after 15 minutes, when an Ossy midlfielder beat two players, supplied a deep cross which was finished at the back post.  A number of good chances followed for the home side, the highlight was a glaring miss from a free header maybe all of 5 yards out.

This caused Kildale’s tactical supreme Shirt to make a change to formation, moving Jnr Gringo into the middle and Hunty to the left. The change brought swift dividends as Swerve won a 50/50 on the left wing and produced a great cross with his standing foot, Kanu slipped but still somehow managed to shoulder the ball home.

1 – 1 at half time, and the Shirt was despairing comparing the lack of movement from his players in the first half to a game of subuteo. The conclusion was that there was more to come from the dale.

A far better performance from came in the second half as Kildale got their passing game going causing problems for the Ossy defence. The goal of the game came when the Ossy keeper had to come out to clear a through ball that Kanu was running onto, his clearance fell to Spunky 45 yards out who controlled and the stroked the perfect lob leaving the keeper clutching at air hooks. The goal only spoilt by grossman’s celebration, he removed his shirt and ran towards the sheep (obviously another night off from the mystery lady at Cleveland Ave. and needed some woolly love!).

Lewy had now found his feet in the game and when a free kick was awarded on the edge of the box he produced a brilliant shot that hit the underside of the bar and bounced out again to Grossman who took his time to slot home. There was time left for Lewy to be unlucky again as he hit the post with a volley. But it was job done for the dale 3 – 1 at the end and a big game coming up on Sunday against Unison, with selection problems for the Shirt as sweeper Sunley is away…who can fill the talismans boots?
