Jefferson Cup Rules

1.       The Competition shall be under the control of the Management Committee, which shall have full power to deal with any matters relating to the competition.

2.       The Competition shall consist of six (6) teams, spilt into 2 groups of three (3).

3.     The entrance fee shall be £15.00. This with a list of 20 eligible players, from which the team will be chosen, must be presented to the Competition secretary before the commencement of their first game.

4.      To qualify for the Competition, a player must be registered, or intending to register, for the club involved for the forthcoming 2005/6 season. No player may play for more than one team in this Competition.

5.       3 from 5 substitutions are allowed in all games, this can be extended to 5 from 5 if both teams agree prior to the commencement of the match and the referee is notified accordingly.

6.       No senior league teams are allowed to play in this Competition.

7.       All games are to be played at Great Broughton Sports Club ground whenever possible.

8.       The Competition to be played on a round robin knockout basis, each team playing the other teams in their group once.

9.       Three (3) points will be award to the winning team, zero (0) points to the losing team and one (1) point each in the case of a draw. The team with the most points of each group after the round robin stage will go forward into the final. If two or more teams in the same group have the same points, the following will decide who will go through to the final (in this order):-

  1. The better result between the teams.
  2. The better goal difference.
  3. The better number of goals scored.
  4. Toss a coin.

10.   The duration of the round robin games shall be 45 minutes each way with no requirement of extra time or penalties.  The duration of the final shall be 45 minutes each way with 15 minutes each way extra time, if required. If there is no result after extra time, then the match will be decided on penalties (NO GOLDEN or SILVER GOAL).

11.   Before the commencement of each game, both teams are to complete a team sheet and hand it to the Competition secretary after the match.

12.   Any protests to be lodged with the Competition secretary within two days together with a fee of £5 returnable if the protest is upheld.

13.   Both teams to provide a suitable match ball and a linesman for each game.

14.   Any team failing to report for kick-off on the night of the match will be automatically disqualified and all results disregarded.

15.   The winning club shall hold the trophy for a period of one year. A souvenir shall be awarded to the winners and runners up if funds permit.

16.   Any point not covered in these rules shall be covered by the rules of the North Riding County Football Association.
