CHore Scores Again

After waiting almost two season before notching for the first time, CHore (the Real Kanu) banged in another goal for the Hibs. The validity of last weeks strike is still to be determined, but there can be no question about the opening goal of the Hibs visit to Thirsk Albion.

A scatch Hibs side, including the every-grey Pazza, started slowly, as Thirsk enjoyed the opening 5 minutes of the match. Playing with the slope and the wind, Hibs finally got themselves out of bed and into the game. The makeshift forward partnership of Oates and Stoz started to cause problems. After 15 mins it was time for CHore to make his mark. He was put through down the right and steadied himself before unleashing a right foot shot across the goal into the bottom left hand corner, from a tight angle (not quite as tight an angle or as furious a shot as DLF's strike the week before!!).

There must of been something in the Thirsk air that morning, as Kris Smith met a deep cross, his looping header looked to be heading into the back of the net, but unfortuneately for the Hibs youngster the ball struck the cross bar, leaving his cherry firmly intact!!!.

Minutes later it was Oates who found himself through on goal and the Hibs marksman cooly chipped the ball over the advancing keeper for 2-0. Stoz was doing his hardest not to score, but nearly failed when he rounded the keeper and shot against the post, the ball rebounded and hit him again and nearly when in the back on the net, but a fortunately a goal kick resulted.

There was no such tippy tappy when a Hibs corner fell to the feet of Big Red. The Hibs Giant riffled the ball home from 6 yards to give the Hibs a 3-0 half Time lead.

In the 2nd half Thirsk began to put Hibs under a bit of pressure, but the back four didn't look to be in any danger until the Hibs failed to react to a loose ball from a corner and Gareth Appleby rocked a shot through a crowd of players into the back of the net.

With 15minutes left on the clock Thirsk got a sniff, as Kris Smith turned the ball off a corner into his own net for 3-2.

Before Thirsk could look for the equaliser, the Hibs began to fight back and looked to kill the game off and with 5mins left the hibs got the winner to rap up the points.

C.O.W. Stoz for his non goal scoring exploits!!
