Langy's Lone Ranger The morning started badly, town hall Stowsler looking like a Ghost town, even tried to sign Bazza Long on at 9:10 for a 9:00 departure! Hibs down to a bare 11. Shocking management, the shirts mob all fresh from a good 12 hours in the hope of a few splinters! Full trek to Richmond, short on tactics as the side changed formation - 4-1-4-1 or 5-2-3 just not sure. Dirk bottled it early on with a poorly calf, (Has anyone seen him with Andre White lately?) Selections made, a slightly greying Kaiser ably supported by Taffy, Psycho Smudger and Lardhead all was well. 5 mins in, the kaiser was taken for pace, Strikers wriggled, Dirk held firm. The rest of the side started to get hold and played some decent stuff, Stozza, Chore & Oatesy doing their bit. Langy, strangely muted and a tad dehydrated was under the weather, perhaps the long trip, maybe an overnight stopover next time. A couple of chances fell to Georgie and Tommo, no joy as their keeper started to excel. Niggly fouls were meted out, Lard loves to pay a bit more for the FA offices. Taffy and Tommo created the odd nice move but 0-0 at HT. Team spirit was lifted as Jupiter parked up and Cuthbert, Dibble, Grub and Steve Harris gave moral support. Lifted, Stozza tried to lift the crowd with a 35 yarder, even Mark Wilkinson gave it up as it hit the bar and bounced down, alas no Rusky linesman. Then when a stalemate looked likely, Stozza and Georgie combined to feed Tommo, his sublime ball through left Langy with three choices, he picked the middle ball he could see and hit it first time and caught Wilko out, 1-0 to the mighty Hibs. Tommo's spunky defiance earning him his first senior MOM. Scrambles and at least 2 fine saves form the Diggler kept the Hibs in it. Best's missed penalty could have made it easier but happy at 0-1, we're just a young side. Oh to have the luxury of Kildale's squad, pitch, changing facilities - The Title's in Shirt's hands!
